Seasons greetings, Esteemed Old Boys,
We are thrilled to share with you the latest news on our flagship project: The 4500 seater Multipurpose Complex (Trinity Chapel, Library, Amphitheatre). This magnificent structure is taking shape, one concrete pillar at a time, creating a legacy that echoes through the corridors of time.
Construction began on 14 August 2023 and the target completion date of the structures is 14 August 2024. As of 19.12.2023, the project has made remarkable progress, thanks to the dedication and expertise of our contractor and the generous support of our donors, including you. Here are some of the highlights:
- The ground floor slab has been fully cast, except for a small section at the external area of the forecourt, which will be completed soon.
- The formwork for the gallery, which will provide a panoramic view of the complex, is ongoing.
- The backfilling of the foyer, which will welcome visitors with a spacious and elegant entrance, is also underway and nearing completion.
- The superstructure columns to the mezzanine, which will house the library and other facilities, have been erected and concreted, along with the ones at the pulpit area, which will serve as the focal point of the chapel.
We are confident that the project will be completed on time and within budget, and we look forward to unveiling it to you soon. We hope that you are as excited as we are about this monumental achievement, which will benefit not only our school but also the wider community.
The OBC developed the concept of the Multipurpose complex, spearheaded by the Class of 1995 and Prof Alfred Omenya, then had the plan adopted by the BOM. The OBC committed to mobilize 50% of the construction cost (approx KES 100m) from AHS Alumni. Funds raised for construction are almost depleted. The OBC will therefore conduct a fundraiser at the School on Sunday 3rd March 2024 to keep the construction going. Details will be provided. In the meantime, you can make your donations towards the Multipurpose complex as shown in the details in the poster:
We thank you for your continued support and involvement in this project, and we invite you to stay tuned for more updates and photos. Together, we can make this dream a reality!
